How Does Home Plumbing Work?

The video below covers how a plumber brings different plumbing aspects together to make a home functional. A home’s plumbing system comprises four essential things; waste drains, vents, potable water, and rainwater management.

The waste drains are an essential part of the home plumbing system. A plumber usually connects waste drains to all fixtures in a home, such as toilets, sinks, and tubs.

The work of waste drains is to carry waste from these fixtures to the main waste drain. From there, a sewage treatment plant takes care of the waste.

The waste vents are another critical part of your home plumbing system. A plumber incorporates these vents to empty gases from the home, remove them through a vent pipe, and stack them. In addition, the waste vents release pressure from the plumbing system.

Potable water is commonly known as the water from your faucet, taken from lakes and rivers or wells. The pipes take the potable water into houses and buildings for everyday use.

Rainwater management is the final part that completes the home plumbing system. Rainwater management helps protect your home from floods and lets you have a natural source of water in your home. The rainwater can be stored in tanks for rainy days to use later.
