Charities that will pick up donations

Clothing donations to charity truly provide warmth and comfort for the millions of people in the United States who need it the most. There are a variety of charities to support that aid the homeless, poor, and less-fortunate, and they all do fantastic work caring for the most vulnerable members of society. Clothing donations in particular help the needy with one of the most basic of human needs. No matter who a person is or where he or she came from, no one should be denied the basic human right of clothing.

Clothing donations are needed perhaps now more than ever considering the enormous waste found in American landfills. Nearly 5% of garbage found in landfills are clothing and textiles such as cotton, polyester, nylon, and rayon — 90% of which are totally recyclable. In fact, in 2006 nearly 2.5 billion pounds of fabric were kept away from landfills by charities and used-clothing purchases. The fact that so much fabric was kept from these landfills goes to show how much clothing and fabrics are needlessly thrown away.

By donating clothes to charity, you can help in providing the 600,000 homeless men, women, and children who are in desperate need of clothing, especially during the cold winter months. There is no such thing as too small of a donation. Charitable clothing donations can be of all shapes in sizes. From a whole wardrobe to a pair of white socks, charitable donations are always welcomed and are always put to good use. There are a number of charities to support in this regard. There are even charities that will pick up your donations right from your front door or garage!

Most likely, you have at least a pair of socks or a t-shirt you no longer wear. Please consider donating them to charity. For more information about charities to support, feel free to leave a comment or question at the bottom.
